IPYG Austria isn't polished, isn't finished, isn't glossy. We're Day 1, made in Vienna. This page just went live. The team is forming. And the first programme is already locked in: our Leadership Class starts on 21 June, together with IPYG Germany.
That's exactly what's great about it: you don't have to push through ten existing structures. You can shape what IPYG in Austria becomes from day one, in Vienna, in your federal state, online.
Behind us: a worldwide network with 1,700+ partner organisations across 131 countries. Ahead of us: a blank red-white-red page we get to write together.
Young people in Austria are under pressure: world anxiety, mental strain, the feeling of not being heard. At the same time, the desire to actually shape things has never been bigger.

89% believe in democracy — but participation is too rarely experienced as effective. IPYG Austria steps into exactly that gap: not through promises, but through real space for voice, co-creation and visible impact.
Empowering Leaders · Building Peace · Shaping the Future
IPYG Germany and IPYG Austria are joining forces: one German-speaking Leadership Class built on YEPC, the Youth Empowerment Peace Class, IPYG's official education programme running in over 57 countries. Three online workshops around one idea that carries everything: heritage as the foundation of identity, dialogue and peace. Join and you become part of a global network spanning education, civil society, faith communities and business.
Youth will come to realise that the most vital link between the past and the future is people themselves, and ultimately, the kind of leaders they choose to become.
The world has never been more connected, and yet division and mistrust keep rising. Beneath them lies a quieter loss: the erosion of heritage, cultural, religious and social. When heritage weakens, so does the foundation for trust and cohesion. The reverse holds too: studies across Europe show that young people connected to their cultural heritage have higher self-esteem, better wellbeing and stronger social bonds.
This is exactly where the programme steps in. Every trained leader has a multiplier effect, reaching students, families, communities and networks. Participants become IPYG Peace Ambassadors, carrying these values into the spaces where young people actually grow, learn and belong.
Sundays at 3 pm, online. The three sessions build on each other: one arc from identity through dialogue to peace.
Heritage is not the past. It is the foundation identity is built on.
Heritage can divide, or build lasting bridges between communities. We decide what we use it for.
Heritage is one of the most powerful foundations of lasting peace and social cohesion.
Complete all three heritage workshops and two further modules unlock.
The words we choose shape whether others feel seen, valued and respected.
Peace grows through collective responsibility and shared action.
Complete the Leadership Program and you can be selected to attend the IPYG World Peace Summit in Korea as a national representative: every year on September 18th, together with peace leaders from around the world. As an IPYG Peace Ambassador you carry a message the world needs to hear: why peace matters, and how it is built.
September 18 · KoreaThe programme is aimed at the people around whom young people grow up, learn and get involved. And it is open to everyone who wants to develop their own leadership potential.

For context
IPYG is globally headquartered in Seoul, where the movement was founded in 2013 and where the international headquarters sits. Vienna is the Austrian hub of the movement.
Vienna is a UN seat, a bridge between East and West, and, very practically, one of Europe's youngest and most diverse cities. IPYG Austria builds on that.
Our Vienna activities connect local community with the international IPYG network: school workshops, neighbourhood peace walks, and joint cleanups with partner organisations from across Europe.
